Well, it is indeed possible to rollback a single or a series of transports! You may want to check out REDO, which is a plug-in to either TMS or to a full fledged transport management tool called TRACE (Transport Center): Transport REDO
The tool is able to undo any erroneous import with just a few clicks, which works for both workbench- and configuration transports. All this is done without having to create a new transport starting from your development environment!
